About the Role
Reporting to the Deputy Harbour Master, the Small Craft Team Leader is responsible for managing and ensuring the effective and efficient provision of Small Craft services to Fremantle Ports customers.
Key duties include:
- Supervise and administer Small Craft Services team.
- Managing Small Craft rostering and payroll approvals.
- Ensure vessels meet appropriate standards and equipment is maintained.
- Coordinate the vessels so that buoy & beacon maintenance, agitation dredging, hydrographic survey and any other work can be undertaken efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure participation in exercises and drills to keep attuned to the emergency requirements of section.
- Ensure maximisation of the Emergency Response vessel.
- Undertake functions of Master on vessels.
- Constantly initiate and facilitate improvements to the delivery of Maritime Services functions.
Skills & Experience
- Master Class 4 or higher & MED 1 qualification.
- Significant progress towards or completion of Leadership / Supervisory qualification.
- Well-developed supervision skills, especially in Small Craft / Marine environment.
- Well-developed boat handling skills and demonstrated technical knowledge of vessels & associated equipment.
- Well-developed customer focus, conflict resolution and team building skills.
