Social Worker - Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit

About your opportunity:

The Mental Health Service Group is currently seeking to recruit a Social Worker to the Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit on a permanent full-time basis. This position is based in Townsville.

The Social Worker will:

• Provide flexible Mental Health assessment and treatment to adults with a mental illness preparing for discharge to the community from the AAMHIU within a supportive multidisciplinary (MDT) team environment.
• Provide profession specific services and consultation as required within the team and the Mental Health Service Group.

What we are looking for?:

• Participate as a member of the Mental Health Team in providing comprehensive Mental Health assessment, case management, intervention or group work as required within a multidisciplinary framework, ensuring the implementation of individual assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow up, multidisciplinary consultation, liaison with referring agents, discharge planning and evaluation of care using appropriate outcome and data measurement systems.
• Participate in education for relevant health and related service providers in the provision of appropriate staff development programs for health professionals, community-based services, community groups, families and individuals.
• Participate in the identification, development and implementation of quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of Mental Health and psychology services within the local service area.
• Provide clinical education and/or practice supervision pertaining to routine tasks for students and less experienced staff with the support of senior clinical staff.

Generous remuneration package value up to $132,730 p.a. comprising:

• Salary range of $2941.70 to $4459.00 p.f. (HP3)
• Annual leave with 17.5% loading
• 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements:

• The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification from an accredited tertiary institution in Social Work as well as eligibility for full membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
• While not mandatory, status as an AASW accredited Mental HealthSocial Worker is highly regarded.
• Eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner under the Mental Health Act 2016 would be well regarded.
• Possession of class C drivers' licence.
• All employees of the Mental Health Service Group may be required to work in other areas of the service.
• This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
• Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
