About the Opportunity:
We are looking for an experienced Sous Chef to assist in leading the BOH team at one of Melbourne’s most acclaimed venues. Oversee the kitchen operations, menu development & financials whilst ensuring a positive work culture. The right individual needs to have a creative and modern approach to creating food whilst having the motivation to mentor, encourage and develop the team.
Experience & Skills:
- Demonstrated experience as a Sous Chef or similar role
- Exposure to high energy work environment
- Creativity and skill in the kitchen
- Experience in modern Australian breakfast cuisine desirable
- A friendly, personable demeanour with a willingness to interact with colleagues and guests
- Strong work ethic and a “can do” attitude
- Effective leadership skills with focus on staff development
- Ability to work autonomously as well as within a team
- Excellent communication and time management
- Adaptable to change
- Exposure to financial budgets, food and labour costs
- Understanding of stock control & ordering processes
- Able and willing to work shift work, including weekends and public holidays
