The Role
Working within the Delivery and Innovation group in FrontierSI, the Spatial Business Analyst will focus on providing critical skills for our cutting-edge technology and advisory projects. This role will require strong technical understanding of spatial technology in order to effectively scope and understand projects utilising specialist skills from across FrontierSI and our partners. The role also covers Business Analyst responsibilities, which will involve coordinating business requirements for projects, undertaking wide ranging data investigations and summarising insights in reports, and undertaking stakeholder consultation and analysis. In this role, you will also be able to contribute your other specialist expertise, for example in project management, stakeholder engagement, systems architecture, data modelling, or strategy development.
This role provides a focused development capability to FrontierSI, and you will need experience on large scale impactful initiatives, ideally focused on emerging technologies or R&D (Research & Development). You will need the ability to work in partnership with other organisations (government, private and university) to deliver useful outcomes.
Our Ideal Candidate
We are seeking someone ideally with a tertiary qualification in engineering, spatial sciences (e.g., BSc in GIS) or IT and/or practical experience and capability in some of the following:
Knowledge of system analysis techniques to analyse and document system requirements, use cases, and workflows
Conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to provide insights from qualitative as well as quantitative data.
Ability to translate technical requirements into detailed task descriptions
Ability to proactively identify risks in projects, implement mitigation strategies and escalate risks as required Ability to work collaboratively and independently and to use initiative in problem solving
Understanding and ability to work with Agile methodologies
Effective organisational skills, with the ability to plan, organise and prioritise work tasks to achieve outcomes within the prescribed timeline and manage projects effectively as per scope.
Confidence in dealing with and presenting to management and stakeholders
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work with tact, discretion, and confidentiality
Understanding of spatial data concepts and data sources
Duties & Responsibilities
3.1 Business Analysis
Interview stakeholders to determine valuable problems and opportunities and requirements for various geospatial technology solutions
Undertake wide ranging desktop analysis of geospatial topic areas in order to determine market trends, technology maturity, key stakeholders, and major strategies and legislation
Translate analysis findings into clear, concise reports for external audiences
Undertake due diligence analysis on specific opportunities
Participate in conferences, symposia and workshops.
Develop and/or interpret user requirements for space and spatial technology
3.2Other
Perform other tasks as requested by the Chief Delivery Officer and/or Head of Delivery.
Other Details
Employment basis: the role is a permanent position, and there is flexibility for part time work if preferred.
Location: Location is within Australia, with flexibility between working from home and co-location at one of FrontierSI’s partner organisations in preferably Perth, Brisbane, or Canberra.
