As the Specialist Consultant, you will be the organisation's expert in Employee Relations as well as supporting managers to navigate complex employee matters. You will provide advice, case management, advocacy, and policy and procedure development. You will be working closely with internal and external stakeholders including the Office of Industrial Relations, Crown Law, Together Union and managers.
In this role you will:
- Provide expert advice on Employee Relations matters and interpretation of awards, certified agreements, legislation and policies within the Queensland Public Sector.
- Provide advice and ongoing guidance to managers as they navigate and address complex employee matters.
- Monitor legislative changes and prepare policies and procedures to ensure they are accurate and up-to-date.
- Contribute as necessary to Award changes and enterprise bargaining in conjunction with relevant government agencies.
- Manage matters such as unfair dismissal, discrimination, discipline and appeals.
- Conduct and/or coordinate investigations into complaints.
- Negotiate with unions and employee representatives on industrial relations matters.
- Contribute to Agency Consultative Committee (ACC) meetings as required and complete work associated with ACC actions.
- On occasion, appear as an industrial advocate in the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission and other tribunals and/or work closely with internal and external advisors on these matters.
- You have demonstrated Employee Relations experience and have managed complex employee matters.
- You can provide advice on Employee Relations issues and interpret legislation and other instruments.
- You write in a clear, concise and articulate manner. You have experience preparing policies, procedures, briefing notes and other business documents.
- You have strong communication skills and are able to build and sustain relationships with a network of key people.
- 36.25 hrs per week (full time hours)
