About the role
We're seeking a Stakeholder and Community Engagement Manager responsible for cultivating relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally, focusing on engagement strategies and delivering activities for one of Transurban's major projects.
In this key role, you'll ensure communities and stakeholders stay engaged and informed about construction, traffic disruptions and activation opportunities for our major project. Collaborating with contractors, government stakeholders, and Community groups, you'll strategically plan and execute events-based engagement, reporting directly to the Senior Manager for Strategic Communications and Engagement.
As our Stakeholder and Community Engagement Manager, you'll contribute to meaningful and positive changes, shaping the future of our cities and leaving a positive placemaking legacy behind for local communities.
Day-to-day, you will:
- Lead the development and implementation of Stakeholder and Community Engagement strategies, outlining construction and project progress details.
- Identify and foster relationships with key stakeholders, community partners, and government entities.
- Oversee the delivery of Community Engagement activities for the project, including supporting the construction contractors in strategy development and execution.
- Lead event-based engagement, including community outreach activities and large public events.
- Proactively address community impacts and project-related issues, collaborating with internal stakeholders to mitigate risk and reduce impacts on stakeholders.
- Assist in developing and delivering communication activities through various channels.
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely community communications and reports.
- Identify opportunities for positive media coverage and address potential media issues and risks.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to other team members, including informal line management.
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
- Proven ability to develop and lead the implementation of project engagement strategies, with a focus on community and stakeholder initiatives.
- Expertise in event management, encompassing planning, risk mitigation, delivery, administration, and reporting.
- Exceptional negotiating and influencing skills.
- Strong project management and analytical skills.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives.
- Experience in developing and maintaining effective community and stakeholder engagement systems and processes for quality and timely communications.
- Proficient in preparing strategic briefing materials and concise reports for diverse audiences, including senior executives.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver strategies through various channels to support project objectives.
- Collaborative team player with strong mentorship skills and the ability to lead others.
- Desirable: qualifications in Journalism, Communications, or Public Relations.
- Highly desirable: experience in a large infrastructure environment.
