Who we are:

ChaplainWatch is a faith-based, non-profit chaplaincy organisation. We seek to achieve our ongoing mission of 'watching out for you when good times go bad', through unique chaplaincy-inspired service delivery based on our values 'divinely led', 'intentional intervention', 'owning response-ability', 'people matter'. For more than 20 years we have provided served in crisis in public spaces in Brisbane, Australia through the NightWatch Chaplains (and now serving in Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg, Gladstone, and Rockhampton); connected those in need with food service providers through our Vans and Kitchens Program and been there when it matters for our community through our Community Crisis Chaplaincy.

What's the job?

In 2019, ChaplainWatch took a great leap, extending our NightWatch Chaplaincy to serve beyond Brisbane, watching out for Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg, Gladstone, and Rockhampton. We've been working to extend our Community Crisis Chaplaincy ministry and Vans And Kitchens website (vaks.org.au) and have taken a lead role in the formation of the Queensland Disaster Chaplaincy Network. In 2024, we are preparing for even greater ministry opportunities.

We are looking for a faithful, talented and capable manager to support ChaplainWatch's ongoing growth by taking on the operation and maintenance of our services and systems while assisting with the implementation of new initiatives.

What you will be doing:

  • Managing a multi-site, multi-service team serving across Queensland.
  • Coaching, supporting, and supervising a state-wide group of team leaders.
  • Ensuring processes and systems are developed, implemented, and maintained to guarantee ChaplainWatch consistently exceeds the expectations of all stakeholders.
  • Providing leadership and direction in the areas of human resources, workplace health and safety and compliance with quality standards.
  • Ensuring appropriate allocation of resources, including budgets and financial management.
  • Supporting change management and continuous improvement across ChaplainWatch.

Key Selection Criteria

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications within Human Services, Business, Law, Government, Policy or related field or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • First Aid Certificate – or the ability to acquire
  • Current Open driver's licence and willingness to travel intra/interstate periodically.

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in chaplaincy, ministry, theology or similar field.

KNOWLEDGE

Essential:

  • Demonstrable understanding of ChaplainWatch Inc. and an ability to utilise this understanding in effectively describing and promoting ChaplainWatch Inc. with service users, stakeholders and public presentations, including media.
  • A working understanding of the needs presented in night-time entertainment environments and other social and community needs and trends including current challenges in meeting the needs of a broad range of human service clients.
  • Applied knowledge of not-for-profit management, preferably in a community services environment.
  • Demonstrable working understanding of human resources, industrial relations, workplace health and safety and other legal and regulatory frameworks impacting the community, non-profit and charitable sectors.
  • An understanding of the principles and values of Christianity and the mission and values of ChaplainWatch Inc.

EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Proven operational leader, with the capacity to deliver results, inspire and motivate teams and work across organisational boundaries to achieve shared goals.
  • Demonstrated organisational, procedural and system development experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing risk management frameworks and monitoring and managing risk within a community service environment.

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively and appropriately with people from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background or other culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrable experience managing community services and sustainably delivering on service outcomes.
  • Experience working within the Human Services Quality Framework or similar quality assurance systems.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCE

Essential

  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including a range of standard business applications.
  • Ability to create executive-level reports, high-level agreements and other key business documents.
  • Ability to produce, interpret and accurately report on financial, statistical and analytical information.

PERSONAL HISTORY CHECKS

Essential:

  • Working with Children (Blue Card)
  • Willingness to undertake a national police check

GENERAL

  • Ability to undertake travel intrastate regularly at short notice and interstate occasionally.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and effectively monitor realistic budgets and meet financial targets.
  • Proven ability to execute strategic plans and ensure objectives and strategies are achieved or exceeded.
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise and engage with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience with change including experience responding to new and emerging trends, using new technology and recommending improvements to workplace practices.
  • Highly developed problem-solving, decision making and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to foster a culture of safety, legislative compliance, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • A demonstrated ability to work non-judgementally and with empathy and compassion.
