PRIMARY DETAIL

  • Full-time, 2 years fixed term

THE ROLE
The Faculty of Science and Engineering is seeking a proactive Program Coordinator to provide project, program, event, training and pedagogical and logistical support for the Macquarie FIRST Australia Robotics programs.
FIRST Australia is a key strategic initiative of the University with a national and growing international profile. In collaboration with Macquarie University’s Faculty of Science and Engineering, the FIRST programs aim to inspire the next generation to choose science and engineering degrees and career pathways. There are approximately 500 schools participating around the country in the FIRST Tech Challenge (ages 12-18) and the FIRST Robotics Competition (ages 14-18) programs. The FIRST FRC & FTC Program Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of running the programs and events nationally. This includes coordinating and managing events and volunteers, logistics, training, grant writing, and program management with a focus to increase school participation and collaborating with partners from around the world.
Reporting to the Outreach Manager (FIRST Australia), the Program Coordinator will:
Manage the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC, ages 14 – 18) and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC, ages 12 - 18) nationally in Australia;
Support overall finance management of the FIRST Australia program;
Develop and facilitate Australian national, annual program plans targeting strategic growth initiatives and outreach with a focus on reaching indigenous, rural and remote communities in Australia;
Manage the FIRST Australia warehouse, including shipping procedures and casual staff;
Provide supervision and support for program partners and participating coaches, teams, teachers, casual staff and volunteers;
Support the FIRST AUSTRALIA annual schedule of events including national and international events, conferences, competitions, promotions and initiatives;
Deliver the suite of FIRST AUSTRALIA training programs to organisations and schools;
Event manage and coordinate FIRST AUSTRALIA competitions both locally (including onsite at Macquarie University) and nationally, with occasional domestic travel required;
Generate and administer related grant applications;
Manage the FIRST Australia school holiday STEM program, with RoboCamps delivered onsite at Macquarie University.
