About the Role:
The Strategic Property Manager is a recent addition to our City Futures department, situated within the Planning and Place Directorate of Council. This transformative role has been introduced to enable Council to optimise its land assets (including facilities/services located on this land) to deliver on Council’s service priorities, including more open space, integrated and optimised Council facilities and redevelopment opportunities to implement recommendations of activity centre structure plans and other service plans.
You will establish a strategic plan to address future land uses, services, programs and activities that optimise the utilisation of Council property. In collaboration with your peers, you will present recommendations to augment the use of land and assets. Considerations may include possible relocation or cessation of services and functions, identified strategic sale and acquisition of sites, new, upgrade or demolition of building assets and the preparation of feasibility and property development plans (masterplans) for priority sites that define project opportunity, costs, phasing, risks and related project synergies.
It is anticipated that the successful applicant will have a significant understanding of asset/property utilisation, development, planning, feasibility and strategy development and project management. We seek an energetic, and results driven strategic thinker to identify opportunities that will create exceptional place-based outcomes for council and its community. You will blend creative and strategic initiatives with pragmatic, fit-for-purpose and financially responsible solutions that consider Council adopted strategies and priority actions covering community services, open space and activity centre structure plans.
You will foster extensive relationships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including internal staff, the Executive and Councillors as well as external stakeholders including land owners, developers, community representatives, and government authorities. Fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement you’ll advocate for best value outcomes to enhance the user experience through service delivery excellence.
