Work Location: Hedland Operations - Fortescue's Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.
Roster: 4D/3R (Monday-Thursday) - FIFO ex Perth
Reporting to the Engineering and Reliability Superintendent, the Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for the structural condition of Fortescue assets across Port and Rail sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Civil/Structural engineers to inspect, assess and maintain the condition of Fortescue assets across Port and Rail
- Create, review & approve documents to approved specifications, codes & standards.
- Manage contracts with manufacturers, consultants & third-party contractors.
- Align with Fortescue values and safety culture.
- Performing design checks on existing structures to confirm adequacy for a new operational requirement (eg such as new lifting points or maintenance platforms etc).
- Providing other structural engineering support to operational teams as may be required.
- Undertaking design of structures to support internal project teams (in leu of design by external consultancies).
- Peer review of calculations and other technical advice produced by internal peers.
- Providing safety leadership to effectively identify and manage technical risks across Fortescue.
- Civil/ Structural Engineering Tertiary Qualification
- 5+ years' experience in Engineering, Design, Asset Integrity, and Mining Operations
- Experience in Engineering leadership, project management
- Knowledge of international codes, standards & industry specifications
- Team oriented and highly self-motivated.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, planning and logistics skills.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office and SAP
