Your role
As Student Engagement Lead at the SEC, you will play a vital role in supporting the SEC's commitment to growing the pipeline of passionate, skilled renewable energy workers in Victoria. You will lead the development and delivery of bespoke, innovative programs that will get students excited about renewable energy, and work across Government and industry to connect students to further opportunities to develop their skills.
This role can be based in either our Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in Morwell operating on either a full-time or part-time basis.
What you will do:
- Designing and delivering science-based programs: Designing and delivering engaging, STEM-based programs on renewable energy and renewable energy careers, targeted at students from Years 7-12.
- Forming partnerships with schools and industry: Identifying partnership opportunities to pilot and deliver Student Engagement programs with:
- High schools (including schools in regional Victoria), with support from the Department of Education
- Tech Schools, to deliver immersive programs on renewable energy skills, including supporting the design of bespoke STEM-based activities
- Renewable energy companies and organisations.
- Embedding First Nations knowledge: Identifying and embedding First Nations perspectives of the renewable energy sector in program delivery, with support from the First Nations Partnership Lead.
- Undertaking research and providing advice: Identifying best practice approaches and providing advice to students and career educators on pathways into renewable energy careers, including vocational pathways.
- Attend student career events: Representing the SEC at student career nights and events to promote the renewable energy workforce to students and parents, with support from the Corporate Affairs business unit.
Must Have:
- Minimum 3 years experience as a science or trades educator, preferably at a high-school level.
- Experience designing and delivering innovative and engaging educational programs.
- Ability to independently manage a program of work.
- A passion for renewable energy.
- Experience engaging with stakeholders and forming partnerships.
- Comfort travelling to metropolitan and regional locations in Victoria for a maximum of 10 days per month during school terms, including a valid Victorian driver’s licence.
- Experience advising students on career pathways, both at the vocational and university level.
- Experience or interest in promoting First Nations' perspectives on science and land management.
