The Opportunity
In this role, you will report to the Supply Chain Manager and be responsible for setting up and optimising laboratories and site systems for the Onslow Iron Project. Initially based at our Osborne Park office, this position will transition into a site-based role at the Kens Bore mine in Western Australia on a 4:3 or 4:3 / 4:3 / 8:6 roster in August or September 2024.
Your primary responsibilities may include:
- Managing the set-up of the Kens Bore and Onslow Port laboratories.
- Obtaining and maintaining ISO quality assurance accreditation for both Onslow Iron laboratories.
- Setting up and managing laboratory maintenance and operational plans, including the automated laboratory equipment.
- Overseeing activities including laboratory data management, statutory compliance, and team leadership.
- Coordinating the calibration, maintenance, and operation of the on-stream analyser measuring equipment.
- Contributing to metallurgical test work on-site at Kens Bore to continuously improve and understand ore bodies, including test work for the future wet plant.
What is Required?
Our ideal candidate will have strong laboratory experience within the Mining sector, including a proven track record of leadership, particularly in building high-performing teams.
Other key skills, experience, and qualifications:
- A tertiary qualification in metallurgy, chemistry, engineering (chemical or process), or a related discipline.
- Current WA Class C Driver’s Licence.
- Exposure to automated laboratories.
- While not essential, previous experience in commissioning laboratories will be highly regarded.
About Ken’s Bore (Onslow)
The Onslow Iron project is a landmark pit-to-port operation extending 150 kilometres eastward from Onslow to Ken’s Bore mine. The site is currently under construction with first ore expected in mid-2024. When launched, Onslow Iron will redefine mining with its world-first autonomous road trains, industry-leading dust-free transport, and resort-style accommodation for a workforce of around 800 people.
