About The Role
The primary role of a Disability Support Worker is to provide care and assistance to people in the community living with mental health conditions or physical disabilities. As a qualified support worker, you will help empower and encourage your clients to improve their quality of life. Support Workers may be required to work with the clients in their homes and provide both physical assistance and emotional support. Support may also be provided in clinics, hospitals and out in the community.
Daily Tasks As A Disability Support Worker May Include:
- Assisting clients with important daily activities, booking appointments, budgeting and goal setting.
- Providing domestic assistance such as food preparation/storing, cooking, washing and light cleaning duties.
- Undertaking tasks outside the home such as shopping, transport to appointments and support at the gym.
- Ensuring involvement to varied social activities such as art classes, swimming and other social programs.
- Providing emotional support, professional friendship and guidance on decision making and reaching individuals personal goals.
- Facilitating daily personal hygiene, showering and dressing tasks (depending on the client needs).
About You
To be considered for this role, you will need the following or be willing and able to obtain:
- Own a reliable vehicle and Driver's License Including Full Comprehensive Car Insurance (willing to obtain)
- Certificate III in Individual Support/ or similar (within the first 6-months of employment)
- Current First Aid & CPR (willing to obtain)
- Police Check (willing to obtain)
- NDIS Yellow Card – Yellow Card (willing to obtain)
- Working With Children Check – Blue Card (willing to obtain)
