About the Role
The position of Talent & HR Business Partner has a Talent Acquisition and HR generalist focus, attracting and retaining talent for the Ogilvy ANZ Network.
The role is both outward facing to deliver a positive recruitment experience for talent as well as business facing, as the first point of contact for all internal employee-related matters in Melbourne and to support teams to recruit the best and brightest talent.
Reporting to the Group People Director in Sydney, this role is a standalone role in Melbourne, but part of the wider People and Talent team that are Sydney-based. Working closely with the team to deliver and support HR processes.
Follow a strategic approach to talent sourcing and deliver on a consistent volume of live recruitment briefs. The role champions the employer brand, partners with business leaders in hiring best practice and approach all work tasks, however small with honesty, integrity, and passion.
The role requires an understanding and knowledge of local regulations and employment laws and how to apply them within the broader context of people management.
The role is a maximum term contract to cover parental leave and will commence in July and likely conclude beginning of February 2025.
This role must be Melbourne based due to the nature of the role.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Business Partnering

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes across Australia and New Zealand from new hire approval, role briefing, review and introduce candidate profiles, initial screening, managing interviews and candidate offers, and organise the completion of reference and pre-employment checks
  • Build talent pipelines by pro-actively sourcing potential candidates through knowledge and experience including employee branding initiatives and personal profile awareness
  • Maintain, enhance, and modify up to date records on the internal recruitment platform, Greenhouse
  • Drive best-practice Talent Acquisition including the coaching of line managers on the interview process and crafting of unique job adverts that speak to the opportunity
  • Assist with internal mobility (network and global level) and act in accordance with WPP transfer policy
  • Inspire and pay obsessive attention to detail and to continue the high level of internal service and candidate experience expected to deliver as part of the People and Talent team
  • Continue to develop relationships with new employees introduced to the business post offer acceptance and assist with employee probation monitoring and feedback reporting following talent hiring
People Business Partnering
  • Mentor, coach and provide feedback to managers at all levels. Provide effective HR advice, guidance and solutions to employees/managers when required, on employee relations matters, working within the necessary legal parameters and be first point of contact for HR queries across the Melbourne teams
  • Work with the Director of People and wider People team to operationalise the people strategy (in line with the business strategy) across various business units the Ogilvy Network
  • Help to design and deliver/implement any change and transformation initiatives
  • Support with the delivery of the Ogilvy benefits programme and people programmes / initatives across Melbourne employees
  • Cascade and embed the company values and create (and refresh) programs to ensure the employees live and breathe the company values across the Network
  • Help to oversee the HR administration processes ensuring the team offers a high quality and consistent service
  • Maintain a knowledge and understanding of competitive compensation in our industry. Report on industry trends and promote our company where appropriate
  • Continue to show knowledge and understanding of employment regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, and applicable laws regarding human resources
  • Ensure all relevant SOX Compliance procedures and processes are followed, adhered to and evidenced
  • Coordinate Melbourne employee movements and track employee details ensuring HR folder and database are up to date
  • Take an active role in onboarding and off boarding Melbourne based starters / leavers as required
Skills & Experience Required
  • Solid recruitment and HR generalist experience, ideally in a large matrix environment
  • Hands-on experience providing advice, guidance and support related to HR operations, employee relations and recruitment
  • Strong understanding of creative and/or communications and digital marketing is preferable
  • Ability to multiple open hires and stakeholders effectively
  • A strong desire to partner with business leaders and managers
  • A "head-hunter" mentality - roles don't fill themselves. This role is about building a network in the Australia and New Zealand market, keeping in regular contact with a mostly passive candidate base and most importantly, understanding what candidates want in their next career move and matching them to the relevant business/roles when they arise
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to ensure strict processes are followed, ensuring a consistent experience for candidates and employees
  • Experience rolling out and developing strategic people and talent projects in an ever-changing environment
