Appointment Pool

Warnbro Community High School Education Support Centre (CHS ESC) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and committed Education Support Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 1, 2025.

Warnbro CHS ESC is an Independent Public School for students with special educational needs co-located with Warnbro Community High School. The Warnbro CHS ESC community is committed to providing the highest quality education for students with special educational needs and believe that all students can learn, achieve and be successful.

Suitable applicants should be able to work in a team and collaborate with colleagues, to plan curriculum as well as reflect on evidence to inform ongoing practice and the development of teaching and learning programmes, explicit teaching, and rich learning experiences.

It is desired that suitable applicants will be able to differentiate curriculum and make adjustments to meet the students’ individual needs which may include students with Autism or complex behaviours. The recommended applicant will Ideally, embrace the school’s commitment of collaborative proactive solutions to Trauma Informed Practice, Restorative Practice and Positive Behaviour Strategies.

Warnbro CHS ESC consists of middle school for students in Years 7, 8 and 9 and senior school for students in Years 10, 11 and 12. In middle school, students work in small groups with their teacher and education assistants to specifically build their academic knowledge and social and emotional wellbeing. Our highly trained staff develop programs aligned to the Australian Curriculum including English, Mathematics, Health and Physical Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Science.

Students in Years 10, 11 and 12 participate in the BELIEVE (Building Equitable Links in Enterprise and Vocational Education) program. This program prepares students for entry into further study, the workforce and transitioning to an independent and prosperous life after school. The subjects of English, Mathematics, Career & Enterprise, Health, and Independent Living are linked to the Australian Core Skills framework and are delivered via meaningful and engaging learning experiences.

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
