Teacher Librarian

About the role:

Brigidine College is an all girls secondary school that consistently attains high levels of academic excellence. This is achieved through a personalised, yet dynamic approach to learning in which caters for each young woman’s needs, passions and aspirations.

Applications are invited from dynamic educators for the position of Teacher Librarian. The preferred candidate will be enthusiastic, keen to engage and inspire our students and staff, and be able to lead information literacy and technologies within the College.

You will be responsible for leading the College library, and as such, you are a role model personally and professionally. You will have the ability to develop positive relationships, foster a culture of collaboration and inquiry and be proactive in your support of the Catholic mission and values of Brigidine College.

The preferred candidate will promote an environment whereby the College Library provides student access both before and after school hours.

Selection Criteria

All applications must address the following Selection Criteria. The Selection Criteria for the Teacher Librarian position requires the applicant to explain, and provide examples if relevant of the following:

• An understanding of and commitment to the mission and purpose of the Catholic Church
• Skills in maintaining an efficient and thorough system of identifying, organising, circulating and retrieving resources, specifically utilising the Oliver library system
• An understanding of library collection management, including purchasing, budgeting and culling to ensure a balanced and rich collection to meet the needs of students and staff
• Innovative engagement of students in the use of, and/or access to, the library
• Demonstrated knowledge of information and communication technologies
• Demonstrated ability to support the continual development of information literacy for staff and students, with the intention of building lifelong learners
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across a range of teams to support their collaborative goals in alignment with the school plan
• Ability to manage contemporary library spaces to accommodate a range of purposes and audiences, such as student wellbeing, study groups, staff learning and literacy activities
• Demonstrated ability to develop innovative programs to engage students in a love of reading
• Effective communication and engagement skills with students, staff and parents
• Proven ability to work collegially within a team environment
• Demonstrated a commitment to growing the College's culture of learning and thinking.

This position requires the successful applicant to obtain and maintain a valid Working with Children Clearance.
