Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School (CHS) is seeking a passionate, dedicated and innovative teacher to join their team in the role of Teacher – Literacy and Numeracy Intervention.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School in 2024 are eligible to receive an of $10,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

About the role
As a Literacy and Numeracy Intervention Teacher, the successful applicant will ideally possess the capacity to provide a learning environment that is caring, engaging, and use available data to differentiate for a range of learning needs. You will ideally have the ability to deliver the Western Australian Curriculum and have an excellent understanding of the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework. We seek teachers who have strong classroom management and skills to engage students successfully.
The successful applicant should be motivated and committed to creating an engaging, inclusive, and challenging learning environment; based on high accountability and sound expectations to ensure all students achieve their maximum potential. You will ideally be flexible, have a strong work ethic, and develop positive, productive partnerships with students, colleagues, and the community.
In the first instance, only applicants with teaching qualifications will be considered. Where there are no suitable applicants with teaching qualifications, applicants without teaching qualifications may be considered.
We will also consider an internal secondment opportunity for permanent teachers in other locations within the Department of Education who would like to work at our school for up to three years and retain their substantive position. Kalgoorlie-Boulder CHS was opened in 2006 and proudly offers secondary courses from Year 7 to 10. The school prides itself on an enrolment of over 900 students from a diverse range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, who all contribute to a vibrant and collaborative school culture.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
  • Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
