Comet Bay College (CBC) is seeking a suitably qualified, passionate and committed Mathematics Teacher to join their friendly team. At CBC we strive for excellence by nurturing individual abilities, providing meaningful opportunities and fostering positive respectful relationships.

The successful applicants will ideally have experience teaching Mathematics across all Years, 7 to 12 and the ability to teach Senior School Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is preferred but not essential. Ability and a willingness to work in the College Gifted and Talented and Academic Extension Program is also desirable.

You should reflect and assess the effectiveness of your teaching practice using a variety of methods available within the College, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve to their highest potential. With effective interpersonal skills, you should work closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.

CBC has a genuine and proven commitment to support the professional growth of our teachers. Each staff member has the opportunity to join the Advanced Instructional Intelligence Program (AIIP) and be provided with five days of professional learning to build teachers capacity in the classroom. The College also encourages and supports staff to participate in a sophisticated Classroom Observation and Feedback Program that supports staff to reflect on their instructional capacity and build upon existing teaching skills. CBC is a modern, innovative Independent Public School that caters for approximately 1780 Year 7 to 12 students and is located one kilometre from the coast in the vibrant community of Secret Harbour. The College boasts state of the art facilities that include specialist science laboratories, lecture theatre, fitness centre, metal fabrication centre, modern industrial food studio and graphics/mechatronics studio.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

• provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
• consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
• obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
• complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
• complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
• complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
• complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
