Permanent Part-Time - working 21 hours per week

Package range: $100,936 - $119,706. Package includes salary of $89,730 - $106,416 (part time paid pro rata), employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

About the role

We are seeking a world-class educator to inspire the next generation of Fashion Technology students by joining our team of teachers on a permanent part-time (21 hours per week/0.6 FTE) basis located at Ultimo Campus, with some travel to Petersham campus required.

In this role you will deliver educational programs and facilitate learning, enabling students to achieve their desired outcomes. Share your passion for building the perfect outfit through teaching students how to confidently use a sewing machine and sew pattern pieces for garment creation. Lead students through the principles and elements of Fashion Technology to build a strong foundation to continue their fashion journey.

Essential requirements:

  • Aboriginality
  • Have appropriate subject knowledge, skills and vocational qualifications with a minimum level of Diploma of Applied Fashion Design & Merchandising, or Diploma of Apparel, Fashion & Textiles, Diploma of Live Production & Technical Services (Costume) or equivalent.
  • Hold the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent OR a willingness to undertake our full time 14 week ‘Paid to Learn’ course.
  • Have a minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience in the garment production industry. 
  • Highly desirable: possess an Advanced Diploma in Fashion or above and experience in printing Indigenous textile designs.
  • Demonstrated specialisation in one or more of the following: Pattern Making, Textiles, Sewing, Fashion Design, Digital Design (Adobe Creative Cloud), Digital Pattern Making (Lectra, Gerber or equivalent), 3D Digital Pattern Making, Marketing and eCommerce, Fashion Business, Merchandising/Buyer, Sustainable and Circularity, Supply Chain and Production, Millinery or Costume.

An applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants will be required to provide Confirmation of Aboriginality documentation with their application. 

Paid to Learn: for candidates who do not hold the TAE40122 or equivalent, you have the option to be Paid to Learn as you transition from industry to teaching with guaranteed work following successful completion of the 14 weeks Training and Assessment course. Those who already hold the TAE qualification or equivalent are still eligible to apply.
