This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2024

Madora Bay Primary School (PS) opened its doors to students in 2023. As a rapidly growing school, we are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled and collaborative Junior Primary Teacher to join our team as soon as possible.

The successful applicant should be highly motivated and committed to raising outcomes for all students through rigorous high impact approaches to planning and teaching with a focus on engagement and progress for every child. They will use ongoing formative assessment to check for understanding, differentiate teaching and plan next steps in learning. They will work collaboratively to implement whole school approaches consistently and take collective responsibility for all students. A strong understanding of the curriculum and the ability to integrate technology effectively is desirable. Teach Well Masterclass participants are encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant will be committed to ongoing professional learning and growth to ensure they maintain and build on contemporary evidence-based approaches; this will include coaching, classroom observation and feedback. The Madora Bay PS teaching team participates in whole school, phase of learning and curriculum planning to embed whole school approaches to teaching and learning.

The ability to establish genuine, positive and caring relationships with our students and families is paramount. The successful applicant will ideally embed a proactive and inclusive approach which includes individualised planning. The consistent application of low-key classroom management strategies aligned to Positive Behaviour Support and outstanding delivery of pastoral care which supports the health and wellbeing of all our students should also be embedded in your practice. Effective and regular communication with all families a priority at Madora Bay PS.

Teaching in a new public primary school presents unique challenges that require a particular skill set and outlook. The personal qualities which you bring to this role are crucial and will be highly regarded. The successful applicant should be reflective, collaborative, flexible and solutions-focused to positively contribute to the establishment of our school culture, adapt to change as our school grows and consistently provide the best opportunities for our students.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

Eligibility and Training Requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
