Position Information 

Greenacre Public School is a dynamic primary school delivering primary education from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our school is located in the inner south west of metropolitan Sydney. Established in 1921, we continue our proud history of public education as part of the New South Wales Department of Education, designing learning to meet the needs of over 650 students. We have a team of highly committed teachers, support and ancillary staff, ensuring the specific needs of our children are met in safe and responsive learning environments. Our cultural diversity is our greatest asset in enriching the social and academic educational experiences of our students, teachers and parents/carers. Our population has 98% of students from non-English and English speaking backgrounds who come together with a strong sense of identity and partnership. We have a support unit with three classes which have provision to educate up to 38 students. These students present with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities. Our school also has an opportunity class for Year 5 and 6 students with high potential. Explicit and systematic teaching in literacy and numeracy, along with the use of data to inform practice are focus areas of our school. We aim to maintain high expectations in attendance, wellbeing and learning. We teach our students to persist through challenging and difficult learning experiences, support all students to reach their potential and best, and encourage them to be aware of broader life opportunities.Our staff commit to their professional growth to build a school culture that focuses on continual improvement and lifelong learning. Meaningful relationships based on trust and mutual respect, along with the wellbeing of all people connecting with our school, is crucial to student success. Our school is committed to open communication and evidence informed practice to improve student outcomes.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach special education and/or experience in teaching students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, autism, sensory and physical impairments, challenging behaviours and complex healthcare needs, K-6.

Demonstrated ability to deliver quality differentiated and adjusted teaching and learning programs including experience in creating, delivering and evaluating Personalised Learning and Support Plans.

Demonstrated capacity to be a positive, proactive and collaborative team member to improve educational outcomes of students with disabilities. 

Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to establish relationships and work effectively with families, colleagues, the community and external stakeholders.

  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
