Position Information 

Yagoona Public School has an enrolment of 550 students, including 97% students from a non-English speaking background. The school places emphasis on student success in all areas of learning. Current focus areas include: reading, numeracy and wellbeing. 

The staff have a diverse range of skills, experiences and backgrounds. The school has a cohesive support unit consisting of 10 classes.  Yagoona Public School implements Positive Behaviour for Learning and provides an inclusive learning environment.

Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach special education and/or experience to teach students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Mild to Moderate Intellectual disabilities and students with communication difficulties.

  • Ability to differentiate curriculum and implement Personalised Learning and Support Plans with a willingness to reflect on practice to adapt to the academic, social, emotional and sensory needs of the students.

  • Developed communication skills to build positive relationships with students, parents/carers, student support officers and teachers to foster collaborative skills, inclusive practices and integration opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, analyse and plan for behaviours that inclusively support the needs of diverse learners in line with the school's Positive Behaviour for Learning systems.
  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
