Mitchell High School is a comprehensive High School serving the southern area of the Blacktown and Prospect districts. We are committed to creating quality learning opportunities for all students by proactively supporting and enhancing cognitive, physical, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. We aim to foster connectedness, improve motivation, enhance school attainment, increase confidence and build resilience in all students through the provision of opportunities to connect, succeed and thrive.
Our student population is highly multicultural and around 900 students. 52% of the students are from EAL/D backgrounds with approximately 10% from a refugee background. We currently have 29 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. There are approximately 96 staff including teachers and SASS/ SLSOs.
Selection Criteria1. Approval to teach Information Processes and Technology, Software Design and Development and willingness to teach Industrial Technology Multimedia, Information and Software Technology, and Technology 7-8.
2. Demonstrated ability to work individually and with colleagues to plan and implement well-structured learning and teaching programs which lead to effective assessment of student progress, in-depth feedback and differentiated to meet the needs of all students.
3. Ability to use effective classroom management skills and well-being practices to create a classroom environment that is engaging, inclusive and fosters a culture of high expectations.
ConditionsAn unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
