About the Role

To support Employment, Education and Training (EET) programme to achieve its objective of preparing young people aged 14 to 16 who are disengaged from mainstream education for the world of work. Participate as Teacher in the offer and provision of appropriate education, skill training, mentoring, therapeutic intervention services and activities - including services to develop personal and independent living skills.

This role is offered on a Fixed Term, Part Time basis, at our Campus in Parkerville.

As a Teacher-Trainer, your duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Develop or oversee the consultative development of individual educational, developmental and employment goals and of participant plans to achieve these goals.
  • Identify and develop options for work experience placements for programme participants.
  • Support and participate as required to ensure the success of corporate volunteer days.
  • Take responsibility for the preparation, implementation, and delivery of a relevant endorsed education programme to all EET participants.
  • Teach to lesson objectives as directed by TAFE assignments and record student outcomes.

In order to be successful for this role, the applicant will have:

  • Eligibility for registration as a Teacher with the Teacher Registration Board of WA with a teaching degree or Training experience with Certificate IV Training and Assessment
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to develop appropriate community resources and partnerships;
  • Understanding, skills and experience in working with young people at risk in ways which strengthen and empower;
  • Ability to appropriately differentiate and apply teaching and learning materials to suit individual learners;
  • Skills and experience to effectively manage challenging behaviours and specific learning needs within a classroom setting;

Desirable:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment;
  • Knowledge of current trends and issues relating to youth employment;
  • Understanding and experience in case management and advocacy for young people and families.
