The Open Space department is responsible for the enhancement and maintenance of Kingston City Council's vast open spaces. As one of five teams within the department, the Bushland and Foreshore team’s focus is on managing the 13km of foreshore and 78ha of natural reserves to protect and enhance local biodiversity and provide a positive visitor experience to these wonderful open space assets.
About the role
We are seeking a Team Leader Bushland and Foreshore professional to join the Open Space team. Reporting to the Manager Open Space, your role is to:
- oversee the strategic delivery of conservation practices and maintenance throughout Council’s Bushland and Foreshore reserves
- be responsible for the development and delivery of the Biodiversity Strategy and the Coastal and Marine Management Plan
- oversee the foreshore cleansing contract which includes bin emptying, sand raking and seaweed removal and the weeding contract of defined sites across the bushland and foreshore reserves
- identify opportunities and implement outcomes for innovation through project delivery, partnerships and processes/procedures.

As an expert in your field, you’ll shape how Kingston manages our natural assets, supported by Council through documents including the Council Plan, Urban Cooling Strategy, Climate and Ecological Emergency Response Plan and of course the Coastal and Marine Management Plan and Biodiversity Strategy.

About you
We are looking for someone with:
- Degree or Diploma in Conservation and Ecosystem management (or similar) with several years of subsequent relevant experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing a large, multi-skilled and diverse team
- Demonstrated experience in Project/Contract/Contractor Management
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in managing budgets pertaining to the management of bushland and foreshore reserves, including development, implementation and reporting
