Centrecare is a not-for-profit organisation with just over 375 employees and is committed to delivering quality professional counselling, support, accommodation, mediation, and training services: in over 11 locations across the Perth Metro, Goldfields and Bunbury region.

This position is based at our Bunbury office to oversee and guide the Earlier Intervention and Family Support Strategy program and manage the staff that work in this service.

About the Service

Centrecare Incorporated, in partnership with Wungening Aboriginal Corporation and Lamp, have established an integrated approach to delivering the Department of Communities – Child Protection and Family Support (CPFS) Building Safe and Strong Families: Earlier Intervention and Family Support Strategy (the EIFS Strategy).

The overarching outcome will be to have children living in safe, stable nurturing environments, achieving good life outcomes, protecting from abuse and neglect and to support families and individuals who are at risk of crisis.

These services focus on the needs of vulnerable children and families experiencing significant disadvantage and adverse consequences. Providing culturally secure, family focused services to support families to minimise risk to children and young people and to divert them from the child protection system.

The primary focus of this new service will be:

Statutory Intensive In-Home Support Service- For families who are open to the Department and at risk of their children entering care or whose children are in care and the primary goal is reunification or parents who are in Communities’ housing and subject to eviction following a Notice of Eviction.

Community Intensive In-home Support Service - For families who are not open to the Department but have long-term needs, are in complex situations and may be involved with multiple agencies.

Early Diversionary Support Network - Provision of a common entry point to accessing support services for families who are not open to the Department but need assistance navigating the service system and would benefit from coordination to link into relevant services or young people without children who want to increase parenting skills via education supports prior to becoming parents.

The project aims to bring back a strong focus on culture, healing and Closing the Gap targets for Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander children and families.

About Wungening Aboriginal Corporation

Wungening Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation which provides culturally secure, confidential and free of charge services to Aboriginal people across Noongar Boodja in the Perth metropolitan area, Peel region and South West.

Wungening means healing in Noongar language and reflects the service approach the organisation has taken in its near 35 year history, across important areas like Alcohol and Other Drugs, homelessness, child protection, and justice.

Wungening delivers services from fourteen offices across the community, including community hubs in Armadale, Mirrabooka, Midland, Rockingham, and East Perth. The organisation also partners with and works alongside other community service organisations in programs and projects we partner on.

With a staff of over 200, and service footprint that has expanded rapidly over the last few years, Wungening is an organisation firmly embedded in the Noongar Community.

About Lamp

Lamp Inc is a not-for-profit mental health service provider, providing individualised centre-based, community and in home psychosocial support through recovery orientated practice. We deliver services within the Southwest and Warren-Blackwood regions and our head office is located in Busselton.

With a focus on person-centred planning, as well as our collaborative approach to service delivery, Lamp Inc provide high quality mental health support to the wider community, whilst working toward reducing the stigma of mental health and promoting the independence of people living with mental health concerns.

About the role

The Team Leader position is to oversee, guide and support the delivery of the program reporting to the Alliance Manager based at the Bunbury Centrecare office.

  • Supporting staff to liaise with the Department of Communities and partner agencies.
  • Liaison with key stakeholders as required and participate in community networking events.
  • Reporting, reviewing statistics, contribute to management board reports.
  • Monthly management supervision with staff and group case management reviews.
  • Networking with stakeholders, liaising with program stakeholders and attending relevant funding body meetings.
  • Training staff on internal processes.

Selection Criteria (must be addressed and submitted with the application)

  • Recognised tertiary level qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Social Sciences, Counselling and/or related disciplines.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation, regulations and external standards in relation to Child Protection.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with other organisations to achieve positive community outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience providing intensive, in-home support to children, young people and families.
  • Well-developed communication skills, written and verbal.
  • An understanding of culturally appropriate, strength-based approaches to client services.
  • Experience providing management supervision and leading group case management.
  • Networking with stakeholders, liaising with program stakeholders and attending relevant funding body meetings.
  • Ability to lead and work within a multiagency, multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday.
  • Hold a current driver’s license
  • Current National Police Clearance (obtained within the last 12 months)
  • A Current Working with Children Check or the ability to obtain one.
