About the team
Our Lighthouse service is co-located at headspace Southport which is operated by Lives Lived Well. The Lighthouse team is a recovery-oriented service which aims to provide access to effective, safe, and appropriate care for adolescents (aged 12 – 18 years) who are experiencing the impacts of complex trauma in their lives. We support young people, and their family/carers/kin, who have been affected by adverse childhood experiences, to learn skills around the management of symptoms and promote hope in healing so that the young person can fulfil their potential.
We deliver evidence-based treatment and therapies within an optimistic, youth friendly culture. Lighthouse works to an internationally agreed set of best practice principles of care, following the Blue Knot Practice Guidelines for Treatment of Complex Trauma.
About the role
This is a full-time maternity replacement contract opportunity commencing mid to end of May 2024 for 12 months, based in our Southport office.
You will be responsible for providing clinical and operational management for our small but impactful multidisciplinary team of Senior Mental Health Clinicians. You will provide clinical guidance and supervision to the team. You will also be responsible for the implementation of the Lighthouse service delivery model, which achieves a timely, high quality, youth-friendly service for comprehensive psychosocial and psychological care within headspace Southport.
You may also hold a small caseload of clients to compliment your leadership responsibilities, if clinically required.

- provide clinical leadership, consultation, and expertise to the Lighthouse team in the delivery of specialist mental health care to young people and their families.
- Optimise continuity of care through effective integration with other parts of the clinical program and the development and maintenance of partnerships with relevant community services.
- Ensure that team members are effectively trained, developed, supervised, and supported to allow them to provide excellent evidence based clinical services.
- Hold weekly clinical review meetings.
- Develop and maintain a working environment conducive to a high standard of clinical practice and hold regular staff meetings and team evaluation and review days.
- Undertake reporting to the phn.
- Ensure team members are supported with appropriate supervision and wellness strategies.
- Take responsibility for a small budget.
The salary range for this role is gross $102,534 to $107,079 per annum + super, depending on skills, knowledge, and experience.
What you will bring to the role:
- Tertiary quali?cation in Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Social Work, Psychology or related discipline.
- Demonstrated leadership skills to provide clinical leadership and day to day supervision to a small team.
- Substantial experience and proven expertise in the application of evidence based clinical practice within the mental health field.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of youth mental health.
- Experience and demonstrated skill in the coordination of individualised psychosocial interventions to meet the needs of young people with a history of complex trauma.
- Experience in assessment and providing evidence based psychological interventions with young people with a complex trauma history.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with young people, their families and/or significant others.
- Highly developed and demonstrable interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), problem solving and negotiation skills.
