If so, WA Country Health Service is seeking a Team Leader based in the East Kimberley for the Kimberley Mental Health Service.

Key Responsibilities

  • You'll drive clinical governance and leadership, ensuring adherence to national Mental Health standards and legislative frameworks.
  • Be pivotal in developing a culturally appropriate services which embraces interventions such as traditional healing .
  • Play an integral role in strategic development, coordination, integration, and evaluation of the Kimberley Mental Health and Drug Service initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Mental Health management team to align our strategies with the Commonwealth, State, and WACHS Mental Health initiatives.
  • Lead a dynamic team of staff, providing mentorship, overseeing training, managing administrative functions, conducting workforce planning, and coordinating leave schedules.

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Regional Manager, you will be responsible for the joint operational management of Kimberley Mental Health & Drug Service (KMHDS) programs in conjunction with relevant Coordinators, Team Leaders, and the Clinical Director. You will oversee the financial, physical, and human resources and day to day operational requirements of the Kununurra and Halls Creek offices; facilitating an advanced level of community Mental Health and alcohol and drug services based on best practice, including providing a service which is culturally secure and considers the emotional, social and spiritual well-being of Aboriginal clients.

Comprehensive Team Support: You won't be navigating this journey alone. Our Kimberley Mental Health and Drug Service team is comprised of around 150 dedicated professionals, including Aboriginal Mental Health workers, Aboriginal liaison Officers, nurses, Mental Health workers, doctors, social workers, peer workers, psychologists, and administrators. We are a multidisciplinary force working collaboratively to provide holistic care.

Supervisory Role: Directly overseeing a diverse team, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping their clinical growth and ensuring the highest standards of care delivery.

Diverse Patient Demographics: The Kimberley region is home to approximately 40,000 people, with 49% being Aboriginal people. Our Psychiatry Inpatient Unit, Mabu Liyan, extends its services to both the Kimberley and Pilbara regions, reaching a combined population of 100,000. This diversity promises enriching clinical experiences and a deeper understanding of diverse cultures.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Eligible for registration in health or behavioural sciences (psychology, occupational therapy, social work, nursing).
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in a community-based Mental Health and/or alcohol and drug service.
