Monday - Friday, totalling 38 hours per week
Competitive Salary:
Band 7 - $108,190.91 p.a. + 11% superannuation
Location:
Corporate Centre in Sandringham, with the flexibility to work from home

About the Role:

Council has adopted an exciting four-year capital works program and is looking for an enthusiastic, multi-skilled and community minded Team Leader for Community Projects. The role is responsible for managing capital projects whist leading a small team of Project Managers and overseeing a small portfolio of projects ranging from streetscapes to urban and foreshore infrastructure projects, small buildings and car parks. The leadership role will continuously drive forward movement in the areas of collaboration, community participation and customer experience on projects.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

  • The candidate will have end-to-end project management skills and possess strong demonstrated experience in Project Management, Construction Management or relevant field.
  • Proficient in developing project scopes, undertake site assessments, prepare cost estimates/plans, prepare and maintain project schedules and assess permit approvals to ensure a project is set up for successful delivery.
  • Possess a high degree of experience in community and stakeholder management.
  • Demonstrate people management skills and strong interest to motivate teams and empower individuals to strive for successful outcomes. 
  • Manage the design, delivery and implementation of designated Capital Projects including streetscapes, urban and foreshore infrastructure, lighting, bay trail links and the like.
  • Effectively brief and manage consultants, contractors, stakeholders, community, clients and other project participants throughout the life of the project in a professional and engaged manner from inception to handover.
  • Exercise a passion for sustainable outcomes that meet time, cost and quality specifications in accordance with Council’s objectives and governance guidelines.
  • Perform Contract Management and Administration duties in accordance with Councils systems and governance guidelines.
  • Demonstrate leadership in construction safety management and use of safety systems.
  • Assist with scoping and the preparation of budget estimates for future capital projects.
  • Respond to external and internal technical enquiries within area of expertise and knowledge.

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

  • Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check
  • Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check 
  • Be willing to undertake a premedical assessment check (if applicable for the role)
