ChemCentre is looking to create a pool of suitable skilled and experienced Team Leaders to fill immediate and future vacancies within our Scientific Services Division. We currently have a 2-year fixed term (full-time) vacancy for immediate start in our Inorganic Chemistry Team.

We provide a comprehensive range of scientific services, working with a wide range of clients including Government Agencies, universities, industry and the general public. Through the provision of chemical information, advice and analytical services ChemCentre mitigates risk to the government, protects the community and the environment and supports sustainable development.
The Scientific Services Division provides services including complex chemical analyses, problem solving and investigative and collaborative research projects. These activities involve inorganic/organic chemistry applied to environment, public and occupational health, emergency response, state based industries and State development.
The Division also provides an analytical and consultative service to Government Departments and commercial agencies involved in health administration, agriculture and highly specialised analytical and advisory services.
About the role
As a Team Leader, you will manage the day to day operations of a team and provide effective scientific and people leadership to achieve ChemCentre’s operational objectives. Successful applicants will assist the relevant Section Manager with identifying and developing commercial opportunities and building productive relationships and strategic partnerships. You will also carry out and prepare reports on relevant analytical and/or scientific investigations including interpreting findings, and coordinate method development.
To be successful to the Pool, you will possess a relevant chemistry or science degree and have demonstrated scientific knowledge in relevant disciplines and investigations, and effective leadership and management skills.

Applicants deemed suitable to the Pool may be considered for similar fixed term or permanent positions (full time or part time) within 12 months from the date of finalisation, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or conversion to permanency subject to funding, conditions and performance.
Eligibility
Applicants will require Australian Citizenship, or Permanent Residency, National Police Clearance, WA Police Integrity Check and pass a Fit for Work test (completed prior to commencement).

Selection Criteria 2: Demonstrated ability to apply expert scientific knowledge to relevant disciplines (organic or inorganic chemistry) and investigations.
Selection Criteria 3: Demonstrated effective leadership and management skills to develop staff in science (analytical chemistry) and laboratory operations and with the ability to build cohesive, high performing teams.
Selection Criteria 4: Demonstrated ability to identify and successfully implement new methodology and to initiate, lead, and manage research and/or investigative projects that enhance analytical capabilities.
The remaining role specific criteria will be assessed at a later stage of this recruitment and selection process.
