What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified individuals wishing to be considered for the role of Band 4Team Member within the newly established Pacific Law Enforcement Cooperation Program (LECP), Pacific Asia Command. Roles are based in AFP Headquarters, Canberra.
The Pacific is key to Australia and AFP interests. Our primary focus in the Pacific is promoting regional stability, maintaining the rule of law and working closely with our Pacific partners. With over 100 AFP members located across the Pacific, we work directly with local law enforcement to combat crime and provide specialist policing training, equipment and education.
The LECP aims to strengthen the capability of Pacific police and law enforcement agencies through provision of short term or one-off specialist policing training, operational support, equipment and other Capability Development initiatives. By doing so, we help build greater capacity to meet bilateral and regional priorities and more effectively cooperate to fight transnational crime. The program broadens existing AFP support delivered to our Pacific partners through bilateral arrangements and the existing AFP led Pacific Community for Law Enforcement Cooperation (PCLEC) framework.
As a Team Member of the LECP Coordination team, you will engage and work with a range of partners across the Pacific region to develop, assess and monitor Capability Development proposals. You will also contribute to the delivery of LECP funded initiatives through managing the purchase of equipment and providing coordination and logistical support to training programs delivered in Australia and overseas. You will also undertake a range of tasks and ad-hoc projects which support individual LECP initiatives and/or contribute to the overall effective functioning of the LECP.
There may be a requirement to travel internationally within the Pacific to undertake various duties, and potentially 'fly in fly out' support. As such, successful candidates will be required to complete an overseas deployment medical clearance.
You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
