About the role
We are seeking a self-motivated GIS Technical Officer with prior experience in the electricity industry who will be responsible for a wide variety of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) duties in support of electricity assets in GIS. Your new role will see you also responsible for subdivision applications and electricity distribution networks specifically managed for the United Energy network. This position is based at our Keysborough depot however once fully trained there is the flexibility to move to a hybrid model with a mix of WFH and days in the office.
Key Responsibilities include
- Data maintenance within GIS and SAP systems, maintaining high integrity and accuracy of the electricity networks using the Smallworld GIS system including both HV and LV networks
- Use of the Change Request (CR) process to perform changes in accordance with the client to maintain the GIS / OMS electrical networks in its normal state
- Ensure correct process and management of data to ensure systems replicate real world in an accurate and timely manner
- Monitor and audit accuracy of information, and the processes by which this data is added to the GIS system
- Dial Before You Dig (DBYD) drawing coverages
- Pole to pit management and liaising with new connections
- Process all subdivision enquiries for Zinfra in the United Energy network region, including the provision of effective supply advice and negotiation of installations that has the least risk for the asset owner whilst applying the relevant legislation and supply policies
- Field inspections to determine site conditions, location of supply points etc
About You
You will be a self-managing and accountable individual who possesses well-developed interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to make decisions and to work both as a team and autonomously. Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands will also see you succeed in your new role, along with the following:
- Prior experience in the electricity industry, ideally in electrical distribution in the discipline of overhead and underground design and the capture of asset information
- A background in surveying is ideal
- Prior experience in the use of GIS. Prior experience with SAP is desirable
- Someone who actively seeks to understand our customers and keeps safety at the centre of everything they do
- A current driver’s license is required to be maintained at all times
