Due to the increase in upcoming wireless telecommunications projects, we are very interested in hearing from experienced Telecommunication Engineers to boost our NSW team based at our Seven Hills office/warehouse. We are in the market for people who are highly motivated and with great attitude.
The primary role of the Telecommunication Field Engineer involves one or more of the following work activity areas: testing and commissioning, and technical support of telecommunication equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, installation, testing, commissioning and integration in network sites
- Provide technical support to installation technicians
- Provide project support to Project Manager where necessary or as directed
- Advantageous to be familiar with installation of telecommunication equipment
- Adherence to all the compliance requirements in Telstra and other carrier policies and procedure manuals
- Examining drawings, specifications and work areas to ensure provided design / drawing meets the relevant standards and specifications
- Ordering and gathering equipment, supplies, materials, and tools required for site installation
- Testing hardware to ensure it is in working order before establishment
- Interpretation of plans and exercise of effective judgement on the optimal method of cutover.
- Verifying service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; identifying, correcting, or escalating problems
- Fault isolation, analysis and repair requiring a high degree of diagnostic skill
- Locating faults in telecommunications equipment
- Conducting cable testing and recording; optic fibre testing/splicing and commissioning as appropriate
- Undertaking the full range of alarm system management
- Cable pressure / alarm systems installation, maintenance and repair
- Terminate and test wave-guides and antennae
- Completion of Hand Over Pack (HOP) in a reasonable time after the completion of an installation project
- Explain and enforce company rules and regulations, quality and safety requirements
- Ensuring that all data is entered accurately to all databases and in a timely and efficient manner.
Skills and Background Required
- Minimum Bachelor of Engineering in Telecommunications or equivalent
- Must have previous field experience in Telstra installation programs
- Advantageous to have 5G installation and testing experience
- A demonstrated practical working knowledge of the relevant work practices and competency in the above functions as required.
- The ability to complete project activities in a safe and healthy manner, to work to instruction standards and in accordance with the project scope
- Must have sound computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must have proficient oral and written communication skills
- An ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Be fully aware of all relevant acts, regulations, codes of practice and bylaws pertaining to telecommunication installation activities.
- A Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- A recognised Working at Heights Certificate
- A valid certificate in RF awareness (RADHAZ)
- A current senior first aid and CPR certificate
- A current clean Australian driver's licence and a clean police check
Salary Range: $75,000 to $85,000 per annum
