Test and Commissioning Operations Manager – Power, Propulsion, Hill
and Deck to join our Hunter Class Line of Business based at Osborne Naval Shipyard - SA, reporting to the Hunter Class Frigate (HCF)
Test and Commissioning (T&C) Manager.We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid workingYou will be responsible for for managing a team of supervisors, technicians, apprentices and Production maintenance trades people, to fulfil Engineering, Verification and Program requirements.
Key responsibilities include:- Managing the operation, maintenance, Set-To-Work (STW), Test and Commissioning and trials of the following systems of the Hunter Class Frigate (HCF):
- Propulsion, shafting and ancillary systems
- Diesel generators and ancillary systems
- Steering gear and stabilisers
- Mission Bay Handling System
- Doors & RCS enclosures
- Anchor handling and mooring equipment
- Hoists, cranes helicopter handling and Replenishment At Sea (RAS) equipment
- Boats & boat hoists
- Fuel systems
- Supporting the HCF T&C Manager to develop, and adhere to the T&C schedules and budgets, as well as the management and maintenance of the associated risk profiles within the T&C Risk Register
- Responsible for the program planning for technical staff development. This includes competency framework and development and training plans. Responsible for the training, development and management of a team of up to 30 Technical Staff members
- Responsible for working collaboratively with the HCF T&C Manager to execute the T&C program scope, including identification of necessary skillsets, training/upskilling and cross-training of resources to mitigate against single points of failure
- Supporting the HCF T&C Manager to generate and execute the HCF Program T&C strategies and plans, including ensuring all planning documents are in line with the program and business plans and framework
- Responsible for ensuring all of the HCF T&C tasks are safely conducted using processes and procedures that are compliant with WHS legislation and the BAE Systems SHE policies
About YOU- Minimum of 10 years demonstrated experience with the Test and Commissioning of complex systems, preferably in Defence or Maritime environment (desirable)
- Minimum of 5 years demonstrated Managerial Experience (desirable)
- Demonstrated advanced issue resolution, advanced planning and advanced task coordination skills
- Strong ability to communicate at different engineering levels
- Excellent problem solving skills, individually and working as part of a team
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
