About the position
CSL Australia is currently looking for a permanent full time Deck Watchkeeper to join our transhipment vessel; Donnacona on a roster schedule 6 weeks on and 6 weeks off. This vessel operates in Cape Preston, Western Australia and is a 24/7-hour operation for our customer; CITIC Pacific Mining. The role of a Deck Watchkeeper is to act as the deck and mooring equipment operator. It differs from a traditional Deck Officer position on a blue water vessel. This role would suit someone who has previously worked in a similar environment to Cape Preston (or the North West region) and is used to operating in hot weather year-round.
In addition, the Deck Watchkeeper will be responsible for;
- Bridge, Navigation and watch keeping officer’s duties as directed by the Master;
- Deck duties and functions ;
- Permitted duties and function as specified in Marine Orders 71;
- Inspection and maintaining Lifesaving and Fire Fighting Equipment;
- Monitoring, maintenance and inspection of Deck machinery and equipment;
- Undertaking cargo watch and ballasting duties;
- Administering the medical stores inventory;
- Any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned;
About you
- Educational requirement: as per AMSA Marine Order 71 – Watchkeeper Deck (required)
- Minimum 6 months sea time as a Deck Watchkeeper
- Certificate of Safety Training (STCW) (desirable)
- Work Safely at Heights Certification (desirable)
- Enter and Work in Confined Space Certification (desirable)
- Hold, or be eligible to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) (required)
- Current AMSA Medical
- Australian citizen or hold a valid work visa
