Evolving to meet the community need since 1988, Youth Futures is one of WA’s oldest and largest youth specialist organisations currently providing 33 programs and services across three core streams:
- Homelessness
- Education and Training
- Support and Wellbeing.

The role
We are seeking a full-time Trainer to support and engage with local young people attending our Youth Futures Community School in Albany
Our schools are designed to re-engage and support students who have had difficulty attending mainstream education. Our goal is to ensure that students achieve relevant education certificates and possess the personal and social skills required to progress, be that TAFE, employment, training or an apprenticeship.
The main educational focus will be around functional literacy and numeracy as required in the Certificate of General Education Adults (CGEA):
- Certificate of General Education I
- Certificate of General Education II
- Certificate of General Education III
There may be scope to contribute to and deliver other areas of the curriculum as required. All CGEA resources and learning material is prepared by our Registered Training Organisation, Futures Education and Training RTO: 52833
We are looking for someone who:
- Has the relevant knowledge and skills to tailor programs for disengaged young people.
- Has experience working with young people who have become disengaged from mainstream education and possess significant barriers preventing re-engagement.
- Can demonstrate their ability to engage and work with at-risk students who may present some challenging behaviours.
- Is passionate about re-engaging students through the fostering of positive and professional relationships.
- Is experienced in delivering curriculum support to students with low numeracy and literacy levels.
- Will ensure their practice is consistent with cultural, gender, developmental and other individual needs.
- Has highly developed communication skills.
Essential Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40122
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 or
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110 and the units TAELLN411/TAELLN411A and TAEASS502/TAEASS502A/TAEASS502B (Current).
- AQF Level 7 or above teaching qualification, or demonstrated knowledge of the theory of literacy and numeracy development and its application.
- Vocational competence at least to the level being delivered and assessed.
- Valid First Aid Certificate.
- Valid National Police Clearance.
- Valid Working with Children's Check.
- Current 'C' class WA driver's licence.
- Permanent Australian work rights with no restrictions.

The base rate for this position depending on qualifications and experience is $77,532 to $89,544 per annum, plus superannuation,
In addition to your remuneration, you will enjoy generous salary packaging benefits where you can package up to $15,900 for general living expenses and an additional $2,650 for entertainment benefits per annum.
