ABOUT THE ROLE
The Underground Mine Engineer is responsible and accountable for managing the planned development and stoping operations at the mine. This focus includes consideration of both the short term and daily production plan requirements.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- Produce practical mine designs (including infrastructure and development required) to enable exploration of mining blocks over the LOM period.
- Produce and maintain rolling production schedules.
- Develop drill and blast designs to support scheduled targets.
- Communicate with the Shift Supervisor, crew and technical staff on plans and issues.
- Analyse and optimise ventilation systems.
- Review applications of different mining methods and the impact on the economic viability of mining blocks and recommend changes as required.
- Undertake rigorous economic evaluations of individual mining blocks.
- Design development drives, stoping blocks, blast ring layouts and work plans are required.
- Identify and set production priorities.
- Complete reconciliations to measure and track design vs actual performance of designs.
- Keeping up to date on administrative responsibilities such as maintaining service logs and internal service records in a timely and accurate manner.
- Manage the activities of yourself so as to minimise risk of accident or injury.
- Involvement in Safety activities (safety and toolbox meetings, S.A.O.’s, hazard reporting, Emergency Response training).
- Ensure that all people that visit you or your Department are appropriately inducted and comply with site standards and procedures.
- Correct and/or report safety hazards when observed.
- Work in a safe manner at all times.
- Any other tasks as required.
ABOUT YOU
- Tertiary / formal qualifications in Mining Engineering (Essential)
- Proven experience working in a similar role (Essential)
- Completed underground experience in operator roles (Essential)
- Knowledge of software packages: EPS, Datamine and Deswik (Essential)
- Current unrestricted “C” Class WA Manual Drivers Licence (Essential)
- Current Dangerous Goods Card (Essential)
- Mines Rescue experience (Desirable)
- Senior First Aid Certificate (Desirable)
