Venue Manager (Blackman's Brewery Ocean Grove)

We're now looking for an experienced hospitality superstar to lead our Ocean Grove team of legends plus dream up and execute events to help us spread the good beer word. Who we are: 

Blackman’s Brewery is an award-winning Victorian Brewery with three hospitality venues located in Torquay, Geelong and Ocean Grove, and beer distributed Australia-wide. We are a tight-knit group of people who love what we do, and we are growing. We are an independent, family run and owned brewery based on the Surf Coast and Geelong. We make our beers with the best quality ingredients we can get our hands on, we give our beers the right amount of time in tank, and we don't rush them through to meet deadlines. Our core range is made up of beers that cover a variety of flavours and styles; we want to make good beer for everyone.

Here are the primary responsibilities of the role: 

• Lead by example from the front, being ‘hands on’ in all areas of the venue. 
• Set the example on how things should be done in both a professional and friendly style. 
• Be responsible for all aspects of running the venue; work with the Operations Manager and Head Chef to ensure smooth running of the venue including managing emails, upholding Blackman’s standards, stocktake and ordering. 
• Plan and create events, especially over winter, to utilise the space. 
• Ensure a fun, relaxed and beer focused environment for our beloved customers to enjoy beer and food whilst promoting Blackman’s Brewery values. 
• Motivate and lead staff, creating a professional yet fun workplace environment. 
• Leading weekly team meetings and delivering weekly financial and operational reports. 
• Create training programs and help refine systems and procedures. 
• Ensure standards are maintained and generally run a clean and safe venue. 
• Responsible for tills and safe and accurate reconciliation. 
• Ability to keep a calm head at all times and run the venue; especially during extremely busy periods and over summer. 
• Achieve and deliver key performance indicators.

• An energetic, enthusiastic and fun beer-loving legend who loves hospitality and leading a team. 
• Outstanding communication skills. You must be able to give and follow instructions carefully, connect with and speak the Blackman's lingo and with a smile. Smiling is very important. 
• Flexibility. You must be able to fit well within our team but get on with things on your own. 
• Be seriously organised. Organisation is key, you must be able to demonstrate that you can work across a range of projects all at once, in a deliberate manner.
• Commitment to the good beer cause and a love of good beer – we want you to become part of the Blackman’s family. 
• Experience across all aspects of venue operations including rostering, managing emails, upholding venue standards, creating and executing promotional events, stocktake, ordering and growing the business. 
• Proficient in keg and cellar operations.
