Venues & Event Manager
- Employment Type: Full time (35 hours per week)
- Duration: 12-month parental leave cover
- Remuneration: Level 8, starting from $118,883 (depending on experience) + 17% super + leave loading
- Location: Kensington, NSW (Hybrid Working)

Why Your Role Matters:
The portfolio of External Engagement is responsible for connecting the University with core stakeholders including philanthropists, alumni, government, volunteers, the media and the broader community. It is made up of six collaborative and high performing teams: Strategic Communications, Development, Centre for Ideas, News and Content, External Engagement and Operations
Venues & Events are specialist in delivering meetings and events for internal and external clients across a variety of venues, including John Niland Scientia Building, Clancy Auditorium, Science Theatre and Parramatta Innovation Hub. This business unit coordinate and deliver venue logistics, audio visual services and work closely with the contracted caterers to ensure a consistent quality hospitality experience.
The Venues & Events Manager is responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary team to effectively promote and deliver meeting and event services whilst ensuring ownership of business development initiatives and the provision of exceptional client relationship management is achieved.
This position reports to the Senior Venues & Events Manager and has up to 6 direct reports.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the strategic plan and marketing strategy for Venues & Events, ensuring the team deliver on agreed objectives.
- Actively contribute to creating a respected and valued service offering.
- In collaboration with the Senior Venues & Events Manager develop annual priorities and an operational plan to guide the efficiencies and quality of work for the Venues and Events team.
- Lead and develop the Venue and Events teams by coaching and mentoring staff to achieve individual's and team's goals and deliver on business objectives.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to effectively manage business development, adherence to UNSW governance pathways, oversee incoming enquiries and ensuring the team successfully coordinate venue logistics for meetings and events to creating a high-quality client and guest experiences.

- Relevant tertiary qualification in venues, events or hospitality with subsequent experience and/or equivalent competency gained through any other combination of education, training and hotel, venue, or restaurant industry experience.
- Proven client management experience within venues or event services.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop staff within direct and indirect reporting line.
- Knowledge of budgeting with proven ability to manage revenue pipelines, create reports and develop strategies to meet and/or exceed targets.
- Well-developed skills in managing the integrity and development of multiple platforms such as venue/hospitality booking systems and CRM databases.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively whilst prioritising and managing competing demands in a fast-pasted and demanding environment.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines.
