We are currently seeking a highly passionate and friendly Visitor Service Assistant who will be responsible for the overall visitor experience at Scitech through delivery of exceptional customer service face to face, by email or by phone. This role will be key to providing visitors, members, and partners with a positive impression of Scitech through admissions, membership maintenance, online ticketing and within the Discovery Shop.
In this role you will:
Admissions & Memberships
- Welcome visitors, ensuring they have a positive first impression, during the admissions process.
- Uphold product and exhibit knowledge to assist with visitor queries.
- Administration of the online ticketing system, monitoring online sales, bookings and centre capacity.
- Promote the Scitech Membership Program, working towards agreed sales and renewal targets.
- Delivery of the Scitech Membership Program including sales and renewal tracking and responding to membership queries from visitors.
- Process and reconcile visitor admissions and membership transactions daily including the data tracking and maintenance for weekly reports.
- Maintenance of the admissions desk ensuring a clean, safe and professional workspace.
Retail Sales
- Proactively sell Discovery Shop merchandise at every opportunity in order to help achieve daily, weekly and monthly sales targets
- Provide assistance, advice and information to visitors to assist with product knowledge and choice, and/or general customer service to actively solve their needs
- Welcome visitors into Scitech and ensure they have a positive impression of the Discovery Shop
- Be knowledgeable with Scitech offerings for visitors as well as products within the Discovery Shop
- Accurate cash handling and processing of sales transactions through the point-of-sale system
- Minimise stock loss by maintaining a highly visible presence on the shop floor
- Reconcile cash, cheque, and electronic takings for Shop, and vending machines with relevant reports on a weekly basis
- Prepare cash & cheque bank deposits for collection on a weekly basis (Front of House, Bookings, Shop, and vending machines).
- Fill, check (and fix/maintain where possible) vending machines
- Monitor stock levels and stock rooms, including vending machine stock, with retail coordinator
- Prepare for and undertake stock-takes with retail coordinator.
- Undertake other duties as directed from time to time.
Gallery Attending
- Assisting visitors to engage with our exhibits, experiences, and facilities, including finding locations, advising about our show schedule and helping to find other visitors
- Maintaining the galleries to a standard that is clean, tidy and fully stocked
- Helping visitors with general information related to their visit, such as parking, public transport, and nearby amenities
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an individual who can delivery continuous, passionate and responsive customer service whilst handling visitor complaints to ensure a response and solution is provided or escalated.
Other skills and experience required includes:
- Experience reconciling cash and electronic transactions (desirable)
- Demonstrated customer service experience including customer complaint management (desirable)
- Demonstrated customer focused administration experience. (desirable)
- Demonstrated attention to detail in all tasks particularly data entry, document formatting and communication.
- Experience in database management including maintaining procedures and evaluating processes, configuration, and security. (desirable)
- Demonstrated experience in a similar retail or customer service-based role including knowledge of POS systems, merchandising, product promotion, sales communication, and sales knowledge (desirable)
- Continuously displays dedication to personal integrity, accountability, flexibility and collaboration.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality work, accuracy and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated good written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to build positive working relationships with visitors and staff at all levels on a range of issues.
- Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Teams) and SharePoint.
- Working with Children Check or ability to obtain one
