As part of this purpose-built program, you'll gain hands-on experience, structured training, and exposure to different production systems while contributing to our focus on sustainability. At Warakirri Cropping, we prioritize reducing carbon emissions and promoting biodiversity on our farms, ensuring a better future for generations to come.

Join us during this exciting phase of your career and embark on a rewarding journey that will help you develop valuable skills, make new friends, and gain experiences you'll remember for life.

Overview of Warakirri Cropping Graduate Program

The Warakirri Cropping Graduate Program provides you with a unique, structured development program in Broadacre Cropping. Each year Warakirri offers up to five Cropping Graduate placements. The Graduate Program runs for two years and will include experiences living and working across a number of farms along with exposure to the broader corporate team.

The Cropping Graduate Program will include one 12 month on-farm placement and two 6 month on-farm placements (rotating across different cropping regions across Australia). It also includes a number of training opportunities off-farm, with a focus on technical, managerial, agronomical, budgeting and precision agricultural skills. You will also attend regional conferences and events.

About Warakirri Cropping

Warakirri Cropping is an Australian owned, safety first, family oriented, innovative, sustainability minded, large scale cropping organisation. With over 155,000 hectares under management across 11 aggregations in Australia you will work for a significant grain producer.

What will I get out of the Graduate Program?
  • You will work as part of the on-farm and corporate teams on day-to-day farming activities and real-life projects, whilst receiving on the job coaching, training and mentorship.
  • You will gain exposure to different production regions, farming systems and corporate administration. This exposure will provide you with a detailed understanding of how large scale national corporate agricultural businesses are structured and operate.
  • You will receive several training intensives throughout the program with a focus on technical, managerial, agronomical, budgeting and precision agricultural skills.

You will be a full-time employee (on a maximum-term contract) and paid a competitive salary. Upon the completion of the Graduate Program, graduates will be eligible to apply for permanent roles within the business.

Am I eligible for the Program?

To qualify for the Warakirri Cropping Graduate Program, we expect that you would have graduated over the last 2 years with a degree from tertiary studies at a Certificate IV, Diploma, Bachelors or Masters from an accredited educational institution.

Although not limited to these, we encourage students enrolled in the following qualifications to apply: Agriculture; Agricultural Science; Farm Management; Agribusiness; Agronomy; Commerce/Business (with an interest in Agriculture) or any other Agriculture related studies.

You will be required to meet residency requirements by holding Australian/New Zealand Citizenship or a valid Australian Permanent Resident Visa.

I meet the eligibility requirements and I am interested – what are the next steps?

  1. Apply by submitting your current resume and a motivation of why you are interested in our program before Wednesday, the 19th of June 2024
  2. We will invite you to an online interview to get to know you better.
  3. You will complete our online assessments.
  4. It's time to interview us! We will book a catch-up session so you can ask any outstanding questions you have about the Graduate Program.

Please note, you must be ready, willing and available to commence the Graduate Program in end January 2025 at our corporate office based in Melbourne for the introduction week.

What makes Warakirri Crropping unique?
  • We offer a comfortable accommodation and vehicle for work purposes during your time in the Program.
  • A true safety focus across the entire company. Safety first, what’s the rush.
  • A strong focus on fatigue management and work hours. We pride ourselves on work life balance.
  • The opportunity to meet with other farm teams from across Australia twice a year to exchange ideas, learn about new equipment and have some fun along the way. These open and honest collaboration events are unique to Warakirri Cropping.
  • Opportunities to grow your career both on the farm or with broader horizons. Learning and development of our people is a strong focus at all levels of the organisation.
  • An organisation that has made commitments to sustainability and is putting that into action.
