About the role
The Ward Support working after hours is accountable to the Director Property and Shared Services Manager for the performance of a range of ancillary and portering duties associated with the 24 hours servicing of the Hospital. They work under general direction, and are able to maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively and demonstrate empathy and courtesy to patients, staff and residents. They are able to contribute to the maintenance of a safe working environment for patients, visitors and staff of the Kooyong precinct.
This is a fixed roster permanent part time 63 hours per fortnight;
Week 1, and Week 3 - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening
Week 2 and Week 4 – Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Night shift: 22:00 hours to 07:00 hours
Your main duties will include:
- Decontaminate, prepare and maintain patient rooms/bathrooms according to infection control standards
- Assist with patient transfers
- Attend emergency calls as defined int he emergency procedures
- Other duties as directed by person in charge of shift
- Lock up duties and security check in the afternoon and after hours
- Attend to front door bell after hours
- Cleaning/mopping of offices/public area duties as required

- Good interpersonal and communication skills with ability to identify concerns when communicating with others.
- Ability to work as an effective member of the team
- Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work demands.
- Good knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Ward Support in applying these principles.
- Commitment to the delivery of safe, compassionate and patient centred care
