Talent International is currently recruiting for a Disaster Welfare Officer to work for an NSW Government client based in Parramatta. The position is a 6-month contract role with the possibility of being extended and are paying $48.25 per hour + Super.
7.6 hours a day / 38 hours a week
Primary purpose of the role
Provide services to disaster affected communities through provision of Disaster Relief Grants, providing a broad range of services and advice by provision of information and advice and managing administrative functions of the Program.
Key accountabilities
- Maintain spreadsheets and documents and manage record keeping.

- Ensure simplified access to Disaster Relief Grant services for clients impacted by disaster through a centred approach with service providers and other human service agencies.
- Manage client information to ensure confidentiality, accuracy and integrity.
- Provision of clear and concise information to clients, including following up enquiries and preparation of written correspondence in line with plain language principles.
- Deal with sensitive issues and be professional and helpful in assisting clients to obtain confidential information
- Work cooperatively as part of a team to support a collaborative and timely approach to complete tasks within agreed timeframes and deadlines
- Provide coordinated and accountable service delivery which addresses early intervention and intensive support to clients impacted by disaster.
- Ensure effective case management monitoring and reporting through maintaining accurate and relevant client records and on time completion of reports and correspondence in line with Department standards and guidelines.
Essential requirements
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of, or an ability to demonstrate a capacity to provide, excellent client service.
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of administrative support including use of Microsoft Office programs and records management skills.
- An ability to work on disaster welfare operations includes an expectation for deployment within 24 to 48 hours’ notice, state-wide. This work could be in remote or rural communities and may involve long and irregular hours including driving, getting in and out of cars and walking to conduct outreach and home visits. It is an expectation that all staff will monitor their own levels of health and capability to be fit for task prior to deployment.
