About the Role:
As a WHS Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Delivery Partner Package Manager in delivering safety and to proactively assure the Contractors adhere to their contract obligations, monitor and influence the health and safety requirements to relentlessly drive our goal of zero incidents on this greenfield airport project.
You will:
- Working as a representative of Bechtel as Western Sydney Airport Co’s Delivery Partner you will report on the WHS management program of the assigned package, maintain regular customer contact for work progress and exchange of information and advice.
- You will provide assistance to project and construction management in implementing and complying with project WHS requirements and in addressing WHS issues as they arise during project execution.
- You will conduct field health and safety reviews of project construction activities to monitor compliance with requirements including contractual commitments, contractor WHS management plans, permits, and other applicable standards.
- You will participate in meetings with the customer, Delivery Partner project team members, and Contractors to advise them of WHS requirements that may affect project design, schedule, and cost.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with external stakeholders, develop productive relationships, and influence.
- Sound working knowledge of Contract Management.
- Knowledge of construction, and NSW Workplace Health and Safety laws and regulations and proficiency in applying them to the project.
- Working knowledge of WHS work practices and experience in conducting incident investigations, compliance audits and project health surveys.
- Formal qualifications in WHS/Management or related science/engineering area is desirable.
- Minimum of 9 years of WHS professional experience in heavy construction.
- Experience of incident investigation techniques i.e. ICAM or TapRoot Certification (or willingness to obtain this qualification).
