WHS Officer

As the WHS officer you will ensure compliance with Work health and safety regulations & legislation. Plan, implement and oversee employee safety at work. Ensure that halo is compliant and adheres to Work Health and Safety guidelines. We offer a flexible working environment that enables a family friendly work life balance and adaptive working hours.

• Plan, develop, review and implement WHS policies, procedures and programs.
• Advise employees on safety-related topics and implement internal safety audits to maintain compliance with government, legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare educational seminars and webinars on a regular basis.
• Conduct workplace inspections ensuring compliance with government, legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Record incoming and outgoing resources such as RCDs.
• Record inventory and distribute PPE accordingly.
• Ensure procedures exist for the Emergency Control Organisation.
• Continuous internal safety audit.
• Continuous assessment and development of the organisations WHS induction process.
• Assist with the development of the WHS committee using WHS Management Systems data.
• Organise and present reports at the safety and health committee on staff accidents and incidents.
• Conduct risk assessments in the work place including clients’ homes as required.
• Contribute to safety communications.
• Review WHS related hazards and incidents and participate in investigations.

Policy Development and Review: Assist the Quality Risk Safety and Health Manager to:

• Develop, coordinate and review HALO’s policy framework and processes.
• Identify key policy priority areas and any gaps within the organisation, including standards and plans to meet the requirements.
• Oversee the development and timeliness of policy, procedure, process, forms, handbooks, manuals and other documentation relevant to quality, risk and management.

Risk Management: Assist the Quality Risk Safety and Health Manager to:

• Assist with monitoring of the organisational risk register.
• Coordinate Risk Management initiatives within the Organisation.
• Provide guidance on risk mitigation strategies as required.
• Oversee the storage, use and of Personal Protective Equipment.
• Ensure area compliance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

Other Duties:

• Arrange, coordinate and Chair WHS and other meetings as required.
• Act as a resource for staff in the area of safety and health.
• Actively participate in personal and professional evaluation of work and professional development.
• Assist with workers compensation and return to work plans as required.
• Ensure compliance with both NDIS and Aged Care Quality and Risk Management requirements.
• Other duties as required
