Position Profile: The Department of Health has established a new System-wide Work Health and Safety (WHS) team to support effective WHS management across the WA health system. The team is responsible for leadership and oversight in relation to WHS and works with Health Service Providers to identify and mitigate system-wide WHS risks. It is responsible for maintaining key WHS management policy documents and the development of new system-wide policies or procedures to mitigate WHS risks. The team monitors WHS performance and works with other WA health entities to promote best practice and address performance concerns.
The Senior Policy Officer position will support the Department's WHS functions as System Manager through active engagement and advice on the identification and mitigation of system-wide WHS risks, developing potential approaches to manage these risks, monitoring WHS performance across the WA health system, and developing training and education materials.
In this role you will:
- Support the development and ongoing monitoring of a system-wide WHS risk profile;
- Undertake research and analysis and provide policy advice in relation to specific WHS risks;
- Lead the development of a WHS training package for all workers across the WA health system;
- Use performance data to identify trends in WHS performance across the WA health system, including identifying areas requiring improvement;
- Work as part of a team and with key stakeholders in the Department and Health Service Providers to share information, provide advice, and promote active and effective WHS risk management.
