Position Overview
- Manage all beverage making, cellar and laboratory activities related to contract packaging whilst collaborating with appropriate departments and senior management team.
- KPI’s ensure all beverages are arranged, received, and prepared for packaging to meet customers specifications and filtration requirements.
- Manage Cellar and Laboratory resources & staff to ensure maximum shift coverage & to budget expectations.
- Support and maintain compliance with OHSE, GMP policy, HACCP, BRC, NATA, ACO and other compliance requirements.
- Ensure effective management of all additives and cellar/laboratory consumables.
- Minimize product losses within acceptable tolerance.
Essential Job Functions
- Schedule and manage sparkling wine & cider secondary fermentation process to ensure maximum tank usage efficiency.
- Liaise with scheduling staff to ensure products are available to meet the production schedules.
- Oversee and manage all beverage making, together with cellar and laboratory functions.
- Create and distribute cellar notes.
- Ensure required data is entered into SAP computer system in a timely manner.
- Ensure customer approval is received on all beverages in accordance with production schedule requirements – liaise with customer to ensure products are up to expectations.
- Manage, maintain and monitor bulk beverage storage.
- Monitor product quality during bottling process.
- Arrange samples as per customer request.
- Arrange and manage product filtration, tank and line cleaning, filter and filler sterilization processes.
- Manage Kosher processes.
- Manage Organic processes.
- Conduct blending trials on behalf of customers.
- Monitor retention samples and analysis standards.
- Assist with customer concerns, complaints or questions on wine.
- Oversee and ensure general housekeeping & cellar cleanliness.
Essential Requirements
- Winemaking degree
- 10 years’ experience in similar position essential.
- Strong computer literacy skills and knowledge of ERP systems (SAP).
- Strong packaging knowledge.
- Good people leadership and time management skills.
