Work Health and Safety Officer

• Contract to 30 June 2024 + possible extensions
• Dickson location with flexible work arrangements
• Level: ASO 6 - SOG C

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated WHS Officer to undertake a comprehensive review of our clients' Work Health and Safety management system, ensuring compliance with legislation and industry standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in updating policies and procedures, leading consultation efforts, and consolidating archival documentation to enhance accessibility and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct a thorough compliance review of the Work Health and Safety management system, identifying and documenting any gaps or deficiencies.
• Review and update WHS policies and procedures to ensure alignment with legislative requirements and industry best practices.
• Lead consultation efforts with stakeholders to implement updates and improvements to the Work Health and Safety management system.
• Consolidate and archive defunct policies and procedures stored in SharePoint and Objective, ensuring easy accessibility and eliminating duplication.
• Communicate regularly with the Director of Safety and Wellbeing, providing updates on the status of work and addressing any barriers or delays.

Skills Required:

• Excellent written communication skills, demonstrated through the creation of WHS policy and procedural documents.
• Strong oral communication skills, including liaison, negotiation, and representation in workplace safety matters.
• Experience reviewing and maintaining a Work Health and Safety management system.
• Proficiency in using SharePoint and Objective to manage documentation and improve accessibility.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with the Director of Safety and Wellbeing and provide regular updates on work status.
• Commitment to meeting role tasks and deliverables within agreed timelines.
• Extensive knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice, and relevant Australian Standards.

Desirable:

• Certificate IV or Diploma of Work Health and Safety.
