Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a Federal Government Agency to engage an Work Health and Safety Officer.This position is located in their busy Dickson office for an initial contract until 30th June 2024.

About the Position
The Work Health and Safety Officer will work directly to the Director of Safety and Wellbeing and be responsible for leading a compliance review of EPSDD’s Work Health and Safety management system and addressing any identified gaps within the system.
The Work Health and Safety Officer will work independently from the Safety and Wellbeing team to deliver on agreed key activities within the Work Health safety management system review. Support from officers within the team can be provided on an agreed and as-needs basis to ensure the success of the review.
Duties

• Undertaking a compliance review of EPSDD’s Work Health and Safety management system, documenting any gaps in the system, and making recommendations on how to address those gaps in order of priority/risk.
• Reviewing WHS policies and procedures for currency.
• Updating and creating WHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislation and Australian Standards and suitability for the EPSDD context.
• Leading consultation and implementation of any updates to the Work Health and Safety management system.
• Consolidating and archiving defunct policies and procedures located in SharePoint and Objective, ensuring easy accessibility for employees and removing any duplication.

Requirements/Skills

• Experience using SharePoint and Objective and ability to create and update file structures to improve accessibility and reduce information duplication.
• Extensive knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice and relevant Australian
  Standards.
• Certificate IV or Diploma of Work Health and Safety
