Your new job includes
For our stores & corporate office located at Sydney international Airport we are looking for a Work Health & Safety Specialist on a Full Time or Part Time capacity.
Your role is to champion Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) for Heinemann Australia.
The WHS Specialist will develop, coordinate, and implement Work, Health and Safety programs. Your role will ensure compliance with all WHS and related compliance activities, identifies, and manages risk, establishes and implements WHS training/education program, responsible for incident reporting and investigation, conducting inspections and assessments, waste minimization, pollution prevention and control, and record keeping.
As a Work Health & Safety Specialist you will
- Management of the investigation of accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe working conditions including reporting of identified hazards and appropriate risk control measures to the Heads of Department.
- Review the circumstances of any work injury, illness and dangerous events, identify any corrective action and request any additional resources or assistance required to undertake this corrective action.
- Liaison with Worksafe NSW and Worksafe QLD for all incidents which legally require reporting, and for any subsequent audits and/or investigations.
- Management of worker’s compensation and return to work plans; being a key liaison for worker’s compensation insurance and rehabilitation providers.
- Lead Health and Safety initiatives and development of a Work Health and Safety (WHS) culture for Heinemann Australia such as but not limited to monthly safety bulletins
- Recommend operational and business requirements to support business strategic objectives for continuous WHS best practice focus.
What you should bring along
- Advanced understanding of Microsoft Suite –Outlook, Power point, Word, Excel and SharePoint
- Preferred 3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Experience in fostering a positive safety culture which encourages proactive reporting of risk information through on-the-job safety coaching, and the facilitation of safety training and initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience in consultation, collaboration and coordination with key stakeholders to ensure seamless management of safety risks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with leaders
- Experience in Return to Work case management is an advantage
